When I advise customers on the use of contact lenses, I also tell them how contact lenses should be taken into account when doing a make-up.
The basic rule is that you need to put the contact lenses on before starting to create the make-up and take them off before washing the make-up off.
When buying make-up products, I would recommend products suitable for sensitive eyes or products that are meant for contact lens users.
There are a few things you should note when creating make-up. The make-up products should be water-soluble as water resistant products may stick to the contact lenses.

Avoid thickening and lengthening mascaras if possible as they have fiber in them that comes off easily. Particles also come off from glitter eye shadow, so avoid them as well. These particles may travel under the contact lens causing fraction and even eye infections. For these reasons, do not make lining right in the inner part of the eye lid.
Also make sure that your eye make-up remover is oil-free and water-soluble.
Contact lens users in particular should throw old eye make-up away and buy new make-up products regularly, as out-of-date products can be loaded with bacterial.
When you have an appointment with an optometrist on how to use your contact lenses, do not wear make-up as it may make it difficult to test the contact lenses, or even prevent it completely.
